The Confederation of International Accreditation Commission- CIAC may certify with an ECTS credits certificate the ECTS credits equivalency of any course, subject or continuing education earned at an Confederation of International Accreditation Commission- CIAC accredited institution or from institutions of education holding an equivalent accreditation (approved by the CIAC). To obtain this ECTS credits certificate (according to the European Union Higher Education Standards) the candidate must demonstrate that the corresponding learning outcomes of the course or subject have been met.
How are ECTS credits issued?
ECTS credits are based on the workload students need in order to achieve expected learning outcomes. Learning outcomes describe what a learner is expected to know, understand and be able to do after successful completion of a process of learning. Workload indicates the time students typically need to complete all learning activities (such as lectures, seminars, projects, practical work, self-study and examinations) required to achieve the expected learning outcomes.
1 ECTS Academic Credit = 25 to 30 hours of study work.
ECTS Credits International Acceptance
The European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) is a tool which enables students to collect credits for learning achieved through higher education. ECTS aims to facilitate planning, delivery, evaluation, recognition and validation of qualifications and units of learning as well as student mobility. ECTS is widely used and recognized in higher education and can be applied to other lifelong learning activities where the EQF European Qualifications Framework is implemented or accepted.
Improve the quality and efficiency of your education and training.
The Confederation of International Accreditation Commission- CIAC offers hundreds of free education courses in a broad range of popular subject areas. With these courses you may earn European ECTS credits towards a degree. Studying a book on your own does not guarantee that the course learning outcomes have been met. In order to get a complete course credit certification you need to demonstrate that you have met the course learning outcomes. To do so you are required to submit a written report of a minimum of 15 pages about the selected subject book.
How meeting the course learning outcomes is demonstrated in order to obtain ECTS Credits?
In order to obtain an ECTS Credits Certificate of a course or subject you must demonstrate that such course learning outcomes have been met. There are several ways that the Confederation of International Accreditation Commission- CIAC may verify your training learning outcomes.
A course completed at an institution of education.
You have completed a course or subject at some institution of education and you have earned the corresponding course certificate that shows the hours of study and the final grade. Usually that certificate may be accepted by the Confederation of International Accreditation Commission- CIAC in order to issue the equivalent ECTS credits certificate.
A course previously approved by the Education Quality Accreditation Commission
There are schools and institution of education that request that one or more of their training courses be certified by the Education Quality Accreditation Commission. In this case the student will receive the corresponding ECTS credits certificate after successful completion of the course. The institutions of education that want to certify their training in this way must coordinate with the CIAC Secretary.
Independent evaluation of your knowledge
The Confederation of International Accreditation Commission- CIAC may accept the presentation of a 15 pages written report about a suggested course or subject textbook (over 300 pages) to be considered equivalent to 5 ECTS credits (130 hours of study work) according to the following workload.
* Textbook reading and comprehension (300 pages) = 50 hours
* Data and notes organization and report draft writing = 40 hours
* Final report review and formatting = 25 hours
* Critical thinking, conclusion and opinion = 15 hours
This option must be previously approved by the Confederation of International Accreditation Commission- CIAC and will have an additional cost to be established by the CIAC Secretary according to the complexity of the assessment and the evaluator profile.
